Support the next generation of outdoor communicators—and get a tax deduction too—by donating to the OWAC Scholarship Fund.

For 2020 only, everyone can take a tax deduction up to $300 for donations made to non-profit organizations such as OWAC. This one-time provision in the 2020 tax code is available to individuals who take the standard deduction as well as people who itemize deductions. This change comes under the CARES Act, part of the government’s pandemic relief legislation that passed in March.

Because the deduction is taken “above the line,” it subtracts from your adjusted gross income, which reduces your total tax and determines your eligibility for tax credits and other deductions. It’s an opportunity to support OWAC by up to $300 ($600 for couples filing jointly) and receive a tax benefit for your generosity.

These donations will be earmarked for OWAC’s Scholarship Fund, which awards cash prizes to winners of  OWAC’s annual outdoor writing and photo contests for high school students.

Thanking those of you in advance who send your check or credit card authorization to Bob Semerau, OWAC Executive Director, P.O. Box 50136, Oxnard, CA 93031, 949-466-3073.
