Autumn begins on Wednesday (Sept. 22), though CaliforniaFallColor.com has been reporting seasonal change throughout the month. Now that the Caldor and Dixie fires have subsided, blue skies have returned to the Sierra and forest color is advancing from Just Starting to Patchy.

During his long career in travel and outdoor communications, he has received over 80 awards for writing, photography and marketing communications. He is a PR bachelor's degree graduate of San Jose State and a Journalism master's degree graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder. His writing specialties are: cycling, sailing, national parks and tourist railroads.
