John has been a career outdoor and travel communicator. Much of his career was spent representing travel destinations, including Eldora Mountain Resort, Squaw Valley USA (now Palisades Tahoe), Marriott's Great America, Roaring Camp Railroads, Yosemite National Park and the State of California as State Tourism Director. He also was a senior PR Practitioner at major Agencies, including his own, where he represented many travel destinations and companies. Throughout his career he has freelanced as a travel and outdoor writer. He founded CaliforniaFallColor.com and has written for EastWestNewsService.com, Mountain Democrat, San Francisco Chronicle, Westways, California Magazine, Sunset Magazine and many other publications. During his long career in travel and outdoor communications, he has received over 80 awards for writing, photography and marketing communications. He is a PR bachelor's degree graduate of San Jose State and a Journalism master's degree graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder. His writing specialties are: cycling, sailing, national parks and tourist railroads.
