From the desk of: Bob Semerau, OWAC Executive Director

For the moment it seems the torrent has slacked, and the snowfall eased. Between storms, California can breathe a sigh for recovered water stocks and hold our breath worrying about flooding and wildfires to come.

Better that we all simply appreciate what we have and get out to enjoy the coming spring, knowing we are among the luckiest on earth to be a part of this Golden State.

Owac has the 2023 EIC contest for your work to shine, we’ve selected a new OCOY winner, and students are sending in their entries about the outdoors. Members are working and publishing many interesting stories to share what we have here. There is much to be pleased about and to look forward to.

Sorry to say, we were unable to secure a venue for our spring conference, but we are working on fall locations now.  If you have any thoughts on the matter, please let me know.

Be sure to keep posting your work on the website so we all may share in the experience.

Bob Semerau

My many years running our own business gives me a unique perspective on managing projects and creating effective programs. Passionate about fishing, I have been a staff writer for Western Outdoor News (WON) for over 20-years. Getting out on numerous WON fishing charters off-shore along the southern California coast, exploring Alaska and Mexico, and finding hidden gems like Bishop and Auburn for wild trout, makes it worth the effort. Writing about the outdoors led me to a mutually beneficial relationship with the professional members of OWAC. As Executive Director, I work to support the members of the organization and achieve their mission to tell stories of the great outdoors, which has been truly rewarding for me both personally and professionally.
