Executive Director’s Message : February – March 2021

This newsletter, produced by our newsletter editor, webmaster, and OWAC Board of Directors member, Gigi de Jong, introduces OWAC into the Digital Age. Our new website will allow greater access for our membership, representing a giant leap forward for the organization. Many new features are available which make navigating OWAC.org easier and more productive for our membership. Additionally, our webmaster has developed a completely digital Excellence in Craft awards program for 2021, which kicks off with this newsletter. These changes, along with the revised membership renewals and application process through the website will help us grow OWAC as we move through this electronic landscape. But let us not lose track of our steadfast goals of communicating our work about the OUTDOOR experience. Keep exploring and telling the great story of California’s natural grace and beauty, whatever medium we use. These are exciting times for us all. Yours, Bob Semerau Executive Director

Bob Semerau

My many years running our own business gives me a unique perspective on managing projects and creating effective programs. Passionate about fishing, I have been a staff writer for Western Outdoor News (WON) for over 20-years. Getting out on numerous WON fishing charters off-shore along the southern California coast, exploring Alaska and Mexico, and finding hidden gems like Bishop and Auburn for wild trout, makes it worth the effort. Writing about the outdoors led me to a mutually beneficial relationship with the professional members of OWAC. As Executive Director, I work to support the members of the organization and achieve their mission to tell stories of the great outdoors, which has been truly rewarding for me both personally and professionally.
