Hello OWAC members!

Since our next conference is not yet scheduled, we thought it would be fun to get together in a different way for an evening of outdoor storytelling. Join us for a Zoom Meetup with our first storyteller, OWAC Board member, Matt Johanson.

This first program will include tales of adventure, close calls, plenty of incredible photography, area lore and history, and some video from Matt’s personal collection. The evening will conclude with a quiz game and book giveaway!

April 11, 2023, at 7 p.m.

A zoom link will be sent to all active members so plan to be there for this first of a series of periodic events.

Matt has supplied us with a brief program description:

Prepare to be inspired. Discover little-known waterfalls and scenic outings in Yosemite National Park.

Experience the exploits of mountaineering legends Royal Robbins, Lynn Hill, and Tommy Caldwell.

Learn secrets to success on the John Muir and Pacific Crest Trails.

Dare to dream about climbing Half Dome, Mount Whitney, and Mount Shasta.

Award-winning author Matt Johanson combines history, photography,

and decades of personal experiences in “Tales and Trails of California Mountains.”

This unforgettable hour will motivate you to launch your own outdoor adventures.

Let’s work together to make this the first of a series. We all enjoy the craft improvement sessions at our OWAC conferences. With the spring conference cancelled and fall conference undetermined, why wait until the next in-person event to share and learn from each other?

Anyone with an outdoor topic or professional guidance to share, please speak up to get in the que

and be scheduled for our future OWAC OUTDOORS zoom sessions.

About

Bob Semerau

My many years running our own business gives me a unique perspective on managing projects and creating effective programs. Passionate about fishing, I have been a staff writer for Western Outdoor News (WON) for over 20-years. Getting out on numerous WON fishing charters off-shore along the southern California coast, exploring Alaska and Mexico, and finding hidden gems like Bishop and Auburn for wild trout, makes it worth the effort. Writing about the outdoors led me to a mutually beneficial relationship with the professional members of OWAC. As Executive Director, I work to support the members of the organization and achieve their mission to tell stories of the great outdoors, which has been truly rewarding for me both personally and professionally.
