Message from OWAC President, Carrie Wilson
With the long warm days of summer upon us, I hope you’re all enjoying and basking in California’s great outdoors as much as possible!
Here’s some exciting news to share … we are all set for our next two OWAC conferences. This fall we will be returning to one of our favorite destinations, Tuolumne County, Nov. 14-17, 2021! The staff from Visit Tuolumne County are excited to show us some brand-new conference meeting venues and they are busy organizing a wide array of fantastic outdoor activities! Please block these dates out on your calendars. More details and information will be coming to you soon.
Now more exciting news, OWAC’s Spring conference next year is now confirmed for May 8-11, 2022 at beautiful Big Bear Lake. If you’ve never been there before, you’re in for a real treat! It’s undisputedly one of southern California’s most popular year-round outdoor vacation destinations. More details will be coming your way after the first of the year. In addition, we are working on some other future fall conference destinations and hope to have more news to share in a future newsletter.
And on a personal note, in mid-July while on a trip to visit some good friends living in the San Juan Islands in Washington state, a couple of other OWAC members apparently had the same great idea. While my husband, Jeff, and our lab puppy, Piper, and I made the journey by car and via the Washington ferry, Peter Schroeder and wife Risa Wyatt arrived on their own private boat from Seattle! We ran into them first briefly at the dock on Lopez Island where we’d both arrived for dinner via separate boats, and then two nights later we met at a restaurant in Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. It was so crazy and very fun to run into two other OWAC members as our paths converged more than 1,000 miles from home!
So, keep your eyes open, you never know when you might run into another OWAC member randomly out somewhere when you least expect it, enjoying the outdoors just like you are.
All the best!
Carrie Wilson
