OWAC’S NEXT MINI-CONFRENCE COMING UP JANUARY 20th IN SACRAMENTO
While 2023 will soon be coming to a close, OWAC will be ringing in 2024 with our first conference in over a year. We hope everyone will put this on your calendar and plan to join us for this fun get together!
Since OWAC was not able to hold our annual conference in 2023, we thought this mini-conference gathering in Sacramento would be a great way for us all to get reconnected and catch up with one another. Also, of major importance will be brainstorming ideas for future conferences and hearing from the membership about what direction OWAC should be taking moving forward.
On Saturday, January 20, in conjunction with the International Sportsman’s Expo in Sacramento, OWAC members will be meeting at the DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton, 2001 Point West Way, a few blocks from Cal Expo.
The festivities will begin at 3:00, first with a membership meeting and then a couple of craft improvement sessions, followed by a social hour with wine and appetizers, and then a no-host dinner at the DoubleTree’s “Twigs” restaurant. Complimentary wine will be provided courtesy of OWAC (actually from Peter’s and Risa’s wonderful Sonoma County vineyard!)
Thanks to the fine work of Janet Fullwood, OWAC’s newest board member, she has made all of the arrangements for the hotel, and for OWAC members who may wish to stay Saturday night. The DoubleTree is offering us a discounted rate of $119 + tax per night. This special rate will only be available by reservation until December 17. This date and location were specifically selected since the International Sportsmen’s Expo, California’s Largest Sportsmen’s show, will be in town at Cal Expo January 18-21. If you’ve never attended this show, we encourage you to check it out! You will be able to meet with the many outdoor industry exhibitors, destination promoters, activity outfitters and guides, as well as enjoy the wide array of product vendors and demonstrators. In addition, the show offers numerous lectures and instructional sessions throughout the four-day run. Hopefully, you will allow you to find lots of story ideas and contacts for future articles. We have arranged for your OWAC media passes to give you free entry into the show. If you don’t have a media pass and need one, please let us know soon.
We are hoping everyone can join us for this special meeting, social hour and dinner, as well as to check out the show free of charge.
