Message from your

OWAC Executive Director

Once again, this issue of OWAC Outdoors brings some important news for each member of the organization.

Four individuals were nominated as outstanding candidates for OWAC Outdoor Californian of the Year, OCOY 2023 and the voting has been completed. Once the votes are tallied up, OCOY committee chairperson, Laurie Morrison, will make the announcement and we will share the name of the winner with you and the world.

We continue to work toward finding a spring conference venue, but few members have provided contacts for viable locations. That is how this works; personal relationships developed over time make a venue receptive to our event. Without your leads we have no conference. Please send any contact info to [email protected]

Our finances are in excellent shape. We are developing a larger scale Pat Vachini High School Scholarship program in 2023. Opening the program to a greater number of students will bring a more diverse range of stories, poems, and photographs. I can’t wait to see the incredible entries these energetic young minds produce.

With the new year, I hope you will elect to participate with your Board of Directors by getting involved with our various endeavors. If you are interested, contact me or any board member. We be happy to have you.

I wish you all the best, and a very Happy New Year!

About

Bob Semerau

The many years I have spent running my own business gives me a unique perspective on managing projects and creating effective programs. Coupled with the ten years I have been writing for Western Outdoor News these experiences have allowed me a set of skills perfectly suited for the OWAC Board of Directors. During my tenure as OWAC Vice President we have achieved substantial progress in the way OWAC operates and how we serve our membership. These contributions have been some of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences of my professional life. The further development of the craft awards program, working with each successive chair person, is among the many progressive developments I have accomplished as a volunteer on the OWAC Board. My interest in making OWAC work better, adding value both professionally and personally for each member, is the driving force behind my desire to stay aboard and complete initiatives recently begun. I seek your vote for re-election to the board so I may further the cause of OWAC and its membership and help it to continue to build as a unique, and outstanding, professional organization.
