OWAC opportunities

The 2022 EIC awards competition is opening for all OWAC members to submit entries and win some awards and cash! Check out the announcement in this newsletter.

The OWAC Pat Vachini High School Writing contest is open, and we are excited to have more schools participating than ever before.

Our OWAC Spring Conference scheduled for May 10-12, 2022, at Big Bear Lake, California is looking to be one of our best ever. Pre-and-post conference activities will be available if you are interested in exploring the beautiful Big Bear Lake environs. Details are being finalized, with registration opening up March 14, 2022, so block out the dates. The folks at Visit Big Bear have pulled out all the stops and are planning something great. The activities are unique to the area and our raffle is on track to offer some exciting items that you just won’t be able to resist.

As always, there are three ways you can help OWAC:

  • Contribute to the website and newsletter by posting to our News & Posts page. Login to OWAC.org with your member credentials and click on Submit a Post.
  • Bring in a new member. You know people who might qualify for OWAC membership. Do them a favor, introduce them to OWAC and ask them to join!
  • Send in to me contact information of organizations you think would benefit from hosting an OWAC conference. We are always looking for new locations of interest.

Yours,

Bob Semerau

Bob Semerau

My many years running our own business gives me a unique perspective on managing projects and creating effective programs. Passionate about fishing, I have been a staff writer for Western Outdoor News (WON) for over 20-years. Getting out on numerous WON fishing charters off-shore along the southern California coast, exploring Alaska and Mexico, and finding hidden gems like Bishop and Auburn for wild trout, makes it worth the effort. Writing about the outdoors led me to a mutually beneficial relationship with the professional members of OWAC. As Executive Director, I work to support the members of the organization and achieve their mission to tell stories of the great outdoors, which has been truly rewarding for me both personally and professionally.
