Back in Texas, Rebecca planned her future to become neither a bassist nor a fly angler, so as life dictates, over the past 10 years in California, she has become a delightful mix of both. Seduced by the mountains (and her partner, Bernard), she found herself crawling into remote canyons searching for wild, native trout. Various adventures led to music performances with their band, PAR AVION, plus conservation work, and, when luckiest, an outright combination of the two. Rebecca is a Conservation Co-Chair for the Southern Sierra Fly Fishers, an ambassador for California Trout and Patagonia Fly Fishing, and, most recently, one of the subjects of a Cotopaxi/Chaco/CalTrout-sponsored short-doc, “Don’t Doubt the Trout,” bringing awareness to the endangered southern steelhead by blurring passions with purpose. In her other lives, she relishes barbecues with family and friends, traveling abroad, social justice issues, and pretending to learn French.
