Jody Martin
Dr. Joel W. (Jody) Martin, PhD, is a professional marine biologist currently serving as Associate Vice President for Research and Curator of Crustacea at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. In his role as a marine biologist, he has published close to 200 peer-reviewed scientific papers, book chapters, and books. His research has taken him from tropical coral reefs in the Caribbean and the Sea of Japan to hydrothermal vents (via submarine) in the deep sea. His other passion is fly fishing, in which field he has authored essays and stories in a wide variety of magazines and journals, including TROUT, Southwest Fly Fishing, American Fly Fishing, Strung, The Loop, The Drake, California Fly Fisher, Tail, The American Fly Fisher, and others. A member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America as well as the Outdoor Writers Association of California, Martin is a recipient of the Robert Traver Fly-Fishing Writing Award from the John Voelker Foundation and the American Museum of Fly Fishing and the Best Outdoor Feature Article EIC award from the Outdoor Writers Association of California.
