Osceola Refetoff
Osceola Refetoff documents humanity’s impact on the world – both the intersection of nature and industry, and the narratives of people living at those crossroads. His parallel careers as a photojournalist and fine art photographer are characterized by a commitment to capture not only how a something looks, but how it feels to experience it.
Refetoff holds an M.F.A. from New York University's Graduate Film Program. Recent honors include the OpenWalls Arles Outstanding Series Award for his portfolio "It's a Mess Without You" (2020), and the Los Angeles Press Club Photojournalist of the Year (2018).
Osceola’s current focus is an expansive set of portfolios surveying the human presence in the deserts of the American West, in particular High & Dry, a long-term collaboration with writer/historian Christopher Langley, regularly featured on KCET's Emmy-winning program Artbound.
