California's bass fishing history captured...by Rich Holland
The first edition of "A Gathering of Eagles, The History of Competitive Bass Fishing in the West" is now available in limited quantities. Edited by Rich Holland, the table top magazine was commissioned by the late Harvey Naslund, a prominent figure in bass fishing in the West since the 70s. The 60-page book was to be the centerpiece to a Las Vegas reunion last summer of the "Silver Eagles", the name Naslund gave to all those who took part in the competitive bass fishing sports in the West prior to the late 80s.
Naslund died of cancer and the event was cancelled, but his many good friends in the industry stepped up to insure that his legacy -- and that of all those who made bass fishing what it is in the Golden State and the rest of the West -- be preserved. The stand alone collectible includes articles by George Kramer, Larry Viviano, Bill Rice, Bill Mays, Bill Hutcheson, Craig Sutherland, Fred Ward, Rich Tauber and Holland.
